The SSAIB
is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service
in accordance with the Provisions of the Association of Chief
Police Officers, The Association of Chief Police Officers
(Scotland) and the Association of British Insurers sector
scheme. Installers recognised by the SSAIB meet the general
requirements for insurers and, as such, systems installed by
SSAIB approved installers may be accepted for insurance purposes
The SSAIB
is governed by an independent Board made up of various interest groups,
with no single group predominating. These include representatives
from the:

of Security Consultants, Department
of Trade and Industry,
Electrical
Contractors Association, Federation
of Small Businesses,
Home
Office, Institute
of Trading Standards, Metropolitan

is the sole national body recognised by government for the
testing and calibration laboratories, certification and Inspection
bodies. A not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, UKAS
operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with the government
through the Department of Trade and industry.
